Based on true events in the 1970s, this is the story of Charlie Lanphear, who is invited by a shady character whom he has befriended at the bar in Aspen to partake in a series of adventures. At first reluctant to join, Charlie, along with his buddy Gregg, finally commit, lured by the promise of sailing around the world only to find that they become wrapped up in illicit behavior, confronted by violent storms and pirates, and are tempted by wealth and power. He and Gregg eventually end up in Changi Prison, one of the most deadly Prisons in Singapore, and Charlie must use everything he has learned on his journey to endure and find freedom.

Interviews:
This is a memoir of mermaids, boat arrests, working girls, and uncharted islands; of a girl forced to navigate survival and adventure while raised by her father on a thirty-foot sailboat circumnavigating the world; of sifting through what is presented to us in childhood and beyond, what is expected of us in society, and finding our true selves, and highest desires in the process.
