Yellow aspen leaves and a setting sun making orange the Colorado blue sky this weekend brings me home. Home to kids, to my settled heart, to the close of the day where I have time to sit under a blanket by the window to read. I pick up Alice Monro and Pam Houston and read, until way too late, but also to another time and place. Their words mesmerize and transport me to thoughts and emotions that I don't often allow or give space to, that are so needed. In honor of their skills and praise of their sharing, may I suggest a read of Pam Houston's How to Talk to a Hunter, and Alice Munro's The Progress of Love.
What a beautifully written reflection 🌿📚 The way you describe settling into a cozy spot with Munro and Houston captures the true magic of literature—how it transports us beyond time and space. How to Talk to a Hunter and The Progress of Love are indeed masterpieces that leave lasting imprints. I often think, just like books give us that escape and perspective, finding ways to balance life’s demands is just as important. Sometimes it’s okay to lighten the load—like when students choose to hire someone to take my online class so they can make room for the moments that truly matter, like reading under that golden sky. ✨
